Let me tell you – if you haven’t picked up The Oh My! Handmade Guide to Businessey Goodness yet, I would strongly suggest doing so now. No, seriously, right now. Click this link, pay your price (between $2 and whatever you think it’s worth) and you won’t regret it.
It’s no secret that building your own business is a challenge – but it’s a challenge that can definitely be made easier if you have excellent resources on hand. This guide is chock-full of so much information, from so many talented people, that it will inspire you and help you create the business you want.
It covers all the bases – marketing, branding, how to deal with social media, coaching – and isn’t overwhelming in the least. And I like that there’s advertising for all the services right there, so you know who to turn to if you want to improve your logos or marketing strategy or create a web presence.
The only thing that I would have like was if there had been more worksheets… but I’m someone who likes to work through my ideas and problems using something structured, like a worksheet. But even that is a minor quibble for such an amazing guide. And really, I can’t say it enough – it is AMAZING.
I really enjoyed the guide and I’m beyond thrilled that it’s been so successful for the editor of Oh My! Handmade, Jessika Hepburn (follow her on Twitter – she’s a goldmine, people!). I’ve read the guide a couple of times over the last few weeks and it’s helped me figure out some structural problems I’ve had with my business – especially the marketing. (And really, who doesn’t need help with marketing? Some of us just need it way more than others.) It’s a guide that will provoke you to think and consider and challenge how your business is being built – and it may change how you’re doing it. Or not. Either way, it’s very enjoyable and well put together and I’m eager to see next year’s edition already.
Really, go pick up the guide now. If you pick it up only for the nifty Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Douglas Adams references, that’s enough… but I’d hope you learn a few new nuggets of info from it, too :)
